Description
Redarc BCDC1220IGN
20Amp 3-Stage DC-DC Battery Charger / Isolator.
Suitable for Latest Model Vehicles with ECU Controlled Alternators
Perfect for the New Ford PX PX2 PX3 Ranger & Mazda BT50
If you need to mount your auxiliary battery some distance away from the start battery, for example in a caravan, Ute tub, rear of wagon or camper trailer, the voltage drop across a long cable might prevent your auxiliary battery from fully charging and in turn reducing the life of your battery.
Redarc have come up with a solution by supplying a DC-DC battery charger called the Smart Start BCDC1220IGN. The Redarc BCDC operates from any input voltage between 9 and 32 volts DC, and contains a voltage booster so voltage drop becomes a thing of the past. Redarc’s advanced electronics ensure that your auxiliary battery always receives the optimum voltage and current for maximum battery life and performance. It’s also a highly advanced battery isolator that prevents your primary battery from draining if your auxiliary battery falls below a certain voltage.
Due to the wide input voltage range you can use the Redarc BCDC on both 12 and 24 Volt systems by simply installing the Redarc charger as close as possible to your auxiliary battery. The unit is suitable for Gel/AGM ,Standard Lead Acid and Calcium Content batteries, whilst setting the battery type, the applicable Float and Boost voltage will be applied.
- Suitable for harsh and marine environments
- Compact in size and easy to fit
- Protects your starting battery from going flat

Three Stage DC Charger
The BCDC offers three stages during the charge cycle:
· Boost: The initial charging stage uses a high amount of current, to quickly top the battery up
· Absorption: The second charging stage uses a slower charging rate, conditioning the battery
· Float: The third charging stage provides a stable charge rate, maintaining the battery
In addition to these stages, the BCDC also tests for the condition of battery, and adjusts its’ charge rates to suit. As the BCDC acts as a voltage booster, a large cable run is not required on the input side of the unit.
Suitable for DIY Instillation
The BCDC is supplied with detailed fitting instructions, and is suitable for DIY fitment by those with basic electrical knowledge.
